Floyd Arnold Sweeting was born on September 25, 1896, in Spencerport, New York. He enrolled in the United States Naval Reserve Force on July 17, 1918. On October 9, 1918, Floyd died of bronchial pneumonia while on the hospital vessel USS Solace, having transferred from the USS Iowa, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
