On April 6, 1917, the United States entered World War I. In a rural farming community in Western New York, ninety-nine men would answer the call.
With Our Boys – Honor Roll, is a series of short biographies detailing the veterans who once called Parma, New York, their home. From humble beginnings before the war and service to their nation, the stories are of lives lived from quiet and influential, modest and successful to sad and triumphant. They have a story to tell and here it will be told.
On June 26, 1914, the actions of one man would change the world forever.
With war was raging overseas in Europe, two men would return home to England to serve in His Majesty’s forces.
Despite the growing intensity of the war overseas, the United States would remain uninvolved, though not for long.
April 6, 1917, the United States would enter World War I. America would answer the call to arms and sacrifices would be made both on and off the battlefield.
The first man lost during World War I would not die on a battlefield. In this year alone Parma would lose nine of “her boys”.
Parma is ready to welcome “her men” home.
Those that remained overseas are returning home. Some to the lives they knew before, others to blaze a new path.
The fallen are honored for their sacrifice both at home and overseas.
